A: The Village Chess Shop is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q. What are the directions?
A. The best way to get here is by Subway. Take the A,B,C,D,E,F or V train to the W. 4th St Station. Exit out the downtown side onto West 3rd St. We are 3 blocks up West 3rd just off the corner at 230 Thompson Street.

Q. Why are some of the board sizes so odd?
A. Many of our boards are made in countries using the Metric system for measurements. We try to give you the closest value in English Standard measurements.

Q. Do we ship outside the Continental United States.

Q. What about our return policy?
A. Please check out our order info section for all the details regarding returns, shipping costs, damaged shipments, etc. If you don't find a satisfactory answer please let us know.

Q. Items are not being added to my Cart when selected, why?
A. If Pop-up windows are disabled on your browser you may miss some messages that we send. If you cannot add an item to your Cart you can safely assume the item is out of stock. If you would like to backorder that item you will need to enable Pop-up windows or call us.

All orders are shipped by FedEx ground service. FedEx will not deliver to a P.O. Box. Orders that must be shipped by US Postal Service, or other carrier, will be charged additional handling and may take longer to ship.For the estimated time it will take to reach you once it leaves us, checkout the Time In Transit Map

Foreign orders please note:
We will accept online orders from most countries using our standard online order process. We will then calculate the additional charges and let you confirm before we ship or charge anything for the order. For expedited shipping ( 1, 2, or 3 day) please let us know and we will charge according to the shippers rate plus a small expedite fee.

We will exchange or replace any set that is found to be defective, or broken, at no charge to you. Please see shipping documents for instructions in case of breakage. For all returns, you must call or write for a Return Authorization Number (RMA) before shipping anything to us. We reserve the right to charge a 10% restocking fee for any product returns for other reasons plus shipping costs.
